NextSteps/Promote supports adults to develop their independence, social skills, a healthy lifestyle and employability skills by offering a range of interesting and challenging activities throughout the week.

Next Steps (North Down & Lisburn) & Promote (North Down)
These projects support adults with learning disabilities to build skills in the following key areas:
Independent Living Skills – including money management, travel training, decision-making, cooking, and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) skills.
Wellbeing Activities – such as fitness, sports, healthy eating, and building social connections and friendships.
Volunteering – offering both individual opportunities to volunteer in the community and team-based group volunteering experiences.
Session times:
Monday – Thursday 9.30 – 3.00pm, Friday 9.30 – 2.00pm
Cost:
There is no cost to parents’/carers/ participants. Places are available as part of a contracted programme with the health trust or there is also the option to apply for a Self-Directed Support Managed Budget. Certain activities are not funded and participants are asked to pay eg refreshments when out for the day, bus tickets or entry to certain places.
Transport:
Transport is not available to any of our services however we have a travel training programme if participants would like to learn how to travel independently. We can also provide links to local community transport services.
Criteria
- Reside within the South Eastern trust area.
- Aged 19-65
- Learning disability is primary disability.
- Our services are not classed as regulated activity therefore we cannot provide support with personal or medical care or if higher staff ratios are required in relation to mobility or supervision.
