General Questions

  • How do I "join" Orchardville?

A full list of Orchardville’s programmes can be found on the Programme Finder page, accessible via the main menu. This page allows you to filter programmes by type — Community Inclusion or Employment & Skills — as well as by location, helping you find the services most relevant to you. You can also access the same page via the Our Services block on the homepage, which links directly to prefiltered views for each programme type.

  • How long will Orchardville support me? Are your services time limited?

Orchardville’s services are not specifically time limited, however, most of our services are funded for an agreed period of time in line with conditions set by the project’s funder. The continuance of our services is generally dependant on us successfully securing ongoing funding for them. Our aim across all of our projects is participant progression. We endeavour to assist participants to develop their confidence, independence, and employability. We will support participants for as long as required, and for as long as the support is demonstrable as having it’s intended impact.

  • Will joining Orchardville and starting paid or voluntary work affect my benefits?

A person’s circumstances will often be unique. The possible impact upon Benefits you currently receive by accessing our services would therefore need to be considered individually. Our experience would be that accessing our services generally does not adversely impact a participant’s Benefits position. Likewise, starting a period of voluntary work will generally not affect your Benefit entitlement. If you secure paid employment whilst participating on one of our projects, we will signpost and assist you to avail of suitably qualified independent advice on the matter, supporting you through the process. We do not provide Benefit advice and cannot complete Benefits applications on your behalf.

  • Which services are available to me?

The services we have vary slightly depending on what Trust area you are part of.  For up to date information, contact our referrals team on referrals@orchardville.com or call 028 90 732326

  • What is a 'day opportunity'?

Day Opportunities provide community-based support that helps individuals — particularly those with learning disabilities, autism, and other support needs — to live full, meaningful, and independent lives. These opportunities include a wide range of activities such as socialising, volunteering, training, and work-related experiences that build confidence and develop practical skills. With a strong focus on choice and person-centred planning, Day Opportunities aim to empower individuals, enhance wellbeing, and reduce social isolation.

  • How do I apply?

Choosing the right programme can feel overwhelming, so when you get in touch with us, you’ll usually have an initial meeting with one of our Employment or Community Managers. Together, we’ll discuss your goals, interests, and support needs to identify the programme that’s the best fit for you.

After this meeting, you’ll receive an application form to complete in full — this helps us gather all the information we need to get you started on your Orchardville journey.

To arrange your initial meeting, email referrals@orchardville.com or call 028 90 732326.

  • Will you support me/my child if they need personal care or medication?

No, we are not a regulated service so are unable to assist with either personal care or medical interventions.

  • Do you run any social clubs?

Yes — we offer social clubs in Belfast, Bangor, and Lisburn.  Our clubs run on Thursday evenings, Friday evenings, and Saturdays, giving participants the chance to socialise, make friends, and enjoy a range of fun activities.

You can join a social club if you’re over 18 and part of either our Day Opportunities or Employment Service.
