Background & Interests
Chris is an enthusiastic darts player, competing three times a week and participating in tournaments at The Dart & Oche. In addition to his sporting interests, Chris volunteers once a week at the Refresh Café, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to the community.
Employment Journey
Chris previously worked at La Mon Hotel but wanted a change in his career path. He enrolled in a barista course at Orchardville, which provided him with the skills needed to pursue a role in the hospitality sector. Following the course, Chris secured a position at Costa Coffee. He began with tasks such as clearing tables and cleaning, and through dedication and hard work, he has progressed to serving customers, operating the till, and preparing a full range of coffee beverages.

Finding employment was initially challenging for Chris, particularly around interviews. With support from his Employment Officer, Chris practiced mock interviews, which helped build his confidence. Using a CV developed with guidance from the Employment Officer, Chris applied to Costa Coffee, attended an interview, and was successfully offered a position.

Michelle, the manager at Costa Coffee, notes that Chris is performing exceptionally well and has not encountered any problems. The Costa Coffee team at Drumkeen have also played a key role in supporting Chris, providing training, guidance, and encouragement to help him grow in his role.
